This year's DEMA show is being held in Orlando and we wanted to have a place to meet up for after the show on Friday November 6th around 5:30pm till whenever. We wanted to keep the party close to the show so everyone working and walking it could easily get across the street and meet up for a couple of refreshments. Also several folks, have other evening commitments, but wanted a place to stop by for a quick hello and a refreshment.
We are holding it again at Adobe Gilas located at Pointe Orlando. This place is home to the best frozen Margaritas & 50 different Tequilas. It has both inside and outdoor seating, live music, plentiful appetizers, no cover charge, pay your own tab, and a prime meeting spot for its location right next to the convention center. There is a huge parking garage, and make sure you bring your parking ticket to Gilas to have it validated for no charge. I-Drive trolley's right outside can wisk you to your nearby hotel afterwards.
DEMA '09 is being held in the North/South Convention center. Pointe Orlando is at 9101 International drive, just two blocks down the street. Adobe Gilas is on the 2nd level and easy to find. If your feet are tired, the Quality Inn Plaza is across the street and will have DEMA free shuttles running from the front steps of the convention center that you can hop on for a quick ride.
Show Hours end at 6:00pm on Friday, but you'll find plenty of us there early. I won't be holding up 6 lobsters like my usual dockside pictures, but the place isn't that big and the smell of fish should lead you to our table as well as the laughter and the table full of glasses. If you're still not sure, PM me and I'll meet you on the show floor with a map or I'll be happy to give you a lift over early and introduce you to the finest divers from all over the world.
Of course this is an EDI event, so bring your boss, your spouse, your co-worker, best friend, or even grab someone off the street who's dressed real nice and ask if they want to learn to dive and meet some sea creatures.
EDIT - Weather has blown us out of diving on Sunday
Also on Sunday Nov 8th several D2D's are planning on diving with Jupiter Dive Center for the morning 2 tanker. PM me for details.

I'll be at DEMA and I will try to make Happy Hour, but we are premiering our new dive television show "Into the Drink" that same day, at 4:00pm in seminar room S320B (all DEMA attendees are invited by the way). sounds like a good time will be had by all! if there weren't so many "IFs", I'd like to show up!
IF it wasn't the opening weekend of deer season. IF I wasn't in Minnesota which isn't very convenient to make it to the happy hour. IF I wasn't about out of PTO so I could have planned a FL dive trip to coincide with this. IF I had won the powerball this week so I didn't have this job thing interfering with fun plans. IF we had Star Trek transporter technology so this wouldn't take hours of plane flight to make happen.

I just returned from my shoulder therapy and have found out that my last PT will be on Friday, followed by an appointment with my surgeon. Extra time at PT to go over home exercises etc. and a late appointment with the surgeon.
The receptionist said I,m looking at 5:30 pm at least. That cuts it to close for me.
I was really looking forward to meeting all of you West Coast D2Ders at the DEMA Party.
I'm beginning to think that will never happen. It seems that one thing or another is ending my diving chances, first my leg then my shoulder and God knows what is next. My heart is in it [so far] but my body is not cooperating.
