Recommendations on the best sites to see seahorses, wrecks, critters in the Caribbean. We dove BVI last year and are wondering if anyone has been to St. Vincent/Grenadines or has other suggestions.

My spouse is a non-diver so I'm on my own....

I loved the diving in Grenada and the Grenadines. One spot that was great was "Purple Rain". I do not remember which island that was near, but all the diving there was great.....I was happy happy on that trip!

We spent two weeks on either Tortola and Virgin Gorda. Was the time of our lives....my wife is way better at remembering all the details... Dive BVI is a great shop and I will get you the name of the other shop. Fantastic sites are painted rock, ship wreck ally, we spotted a sea horse by one wreck.. Visibility is great, water is warm, people are freindly, what more can you ask for?

We saw more seahorses in Roatan than anywhere else we have been. Also, staying at CoCoView Resort we had a wreck of a ship and a plane right in front yard for shore diving. There is also another wreck, the Mr. Bud very close to resort and we got to dive it twice. Bonaire we saw 4-5 seahorses all week, still great but not as many as Roatan where we saw double that.

Thanks WIdivers and RnR. My wife ( a non-diver) picked BVI and because my warm water diving has been limited to the Cayman Islands and the FL Keys, I think BVI is a good bucket list destination. Bonair, Roatan are definitely on the list but ones I would probably due with other dive buddies instead of going with my wife as I assume those are both mostly dive destinations and not to much to see or do topside....

It really depends what you wife likes to do since she doesn't dive. If she likes being around the water, maybe snorkeling, or sitting around pool and relaxing in a very quiet environment then she might really like Bonaire. Bonaire is Dutch so it also has a European flavor as well as southern Caribbean flavor. It is very unique. If she wants to feel like she is deep in the tropical rainforest, exotic locale, then she might like Roatan. There are some things to do on both islands, but not the types of things you find in more modernized areas. To me, those are the two best places to go diving in the Caribbean and they deliver atmosphere that is pleasant and memorable in a good way.

city dock in Bonaire and in the sand of Palancar caves in Cozumel. Was I able to find the first ones on my own? No, Dee Scarr and Jeremy Anschel were the eyes that led me to the right micro-environments for scanning. Since then I've found many more in Sulawesi, Palau, Bali, Puerto Galera . . .
