I just picked up an O2 sensor. I'm really close on dropping $1800 on the Shearwater Computer, then then I saw the UEMIS and I'm so confused. The UEMIS will do so much, plus it will wirelessly sync underwater as you get close to your buddy (like deco stop) and you can read his screen on your own screen. Incredible color real time graphs and warnings.

We just got out of the Lessorman & associates lawsuit seminar. I will never be a DM or instructor. Furthermore, even if I know you, I will specifically declare I'm not anyone's buddy. That seminar was scary.

Almost Beer-thirty at the D2D happy hour.

Looks like the UEMIS is from the same Swiss company that brings us the UWATEC computers. Looks likes some interesting stuff but I like the bullet proof construction and more local (Canada) support on the Shearwater - talk to Wayne at Amigos I bet he can get you some seriously good pricing on Shearwater.

And the chance of you ever being close enough to your buddy (accept floating on the surface) to get a pressure reading off of their unit is practically nil - LOL.

I already knew from my Rescue instructor never to be a DM or instructor for all those reasons you learned about.
Or for that matter, a group leader on a trip, don't do that either!!

I did some shopping & recco for Bob3's business. I spent $0 for myself.

The donut scooter Johnoly mentioned looked interesting. I wonder about stability, steering, propwash. Saw a very impressive ROV by SeaBotixwith multiple sensing modalities, can fly in black water by SONAR, with an ultrasound like image.

AtomicAquatics, Delta-P, Mares & the Swiss guys in the back showed beautiful computers. This level of complexity doesn't turn me on. You can load v-planner into various platforms if (a $200 iPodTouch or $1700 LiquidVision) if you need to do advanced deco. The Seiko sold by Zeagle (N2ition3) is very nice and priced for my world.

Si-Tech has excellent new wrist & neck seals. Silicone, white or orange, VERY stretchy & durable. Also quick-change O-ring system. Bob3 will carry them. Saw many good drysuits from Viking , Waterborne, Whites, Santi and other makers. Waterproof offers well made European style suits. Quite form-fitted, even a pocket for the boys. Snarky comment overheard: "Can you get that with camel-toe?" Waterproof.eu

Carl from Sartek showed me a slick mod for your full face mask, a combination comms & surface breathing plug. Also a superb LED video light. Tektite offered dive lights with built in rattle-ball noise makers. Everyone offered bright reasonably priced LED dive lights. The little clip-on LED "alligator heads" ($23, #2200) from Pelican would be great stocking stuffers. The SL3 from UWKinetics looks good.

Saw the premiere of "Into the Drink" TV show, nicely done. I wish Nick & the boys well.

Got to visit with some old friends in the industry, old dive buddies, and make some new friends.
People were the highlight of the show this year. Also some sad news: passings, divorces, etc.

It was a compact show, smaller booths and/or shared booths. Nearly everyone you would expect at DEMA was. Oceanic/Aeris/Hollis, SP, Mares, Atomic, Sherwood, Trelleborg Viking, Poseidon, Beuchat, the usual OEM guys from Taiwan & China. Big booths for PADI, DAN, Zeagle-Pinnacle, & TUSA group.

MIA (that I noticed) DiveRite, DUI, Halcyon, Riffe

Oh, thank god Chuck made another purchase after the $35 report.  I would have outspent him if not.  Nothing major for me...just a shirt and trinkets.

We arrived a few minutes before the floor opened and I was pleasantly surprised to see (and hear) my friend, Pup Morse, singing my favorite song from his first release "Just a Scuba Cowboy."  I did not realize he was going to be at DEMA and apparently neither did he until about a month ago.  Here's a link to the CD:

http://www.pupmorse.com/fr_index.cfm

The song is called "You're My Chum" and Pup started writing it after we met in Cozumel a few years ago. I told him about my instructor's husband who blew chunks at depth at the beginning of every single dive.  I asked Pup to write a song about him that included the line "you're not just my buddy, you're my chum."  I have a brief mention on the inside of the CD jacket.  My 15 seconds of fame. :)

I added a Chammys hoodie and a silver shark pendant to my list today. (The latter waaaaaay cheaper than it would have been in Egypt. Thanks for telling me I should wait. )
